Description
Amanda Houston grew up in Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. The artist received her B.S. in Apparel Design and Marketing from the University of Vermont, and a post-graduate degree in Textile Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Houston was the first apparel designer at L.L. Bean, and in the 1990’s moved on to become Nike’s first Apparel Innovation Director. The artist spent 17 years designing and merchandising sports apparel for global brands before deciding to paint full-time. Houston is a member of American Women Artists, American Impressionist Society, Pastel Society of America, and the Northwest Pastel Society, where she is a board member. The artist is represented by galleries in Washington, Oregon, and Santa Fe, and is published by Editions Limited in California. Amanda Houston currently lives and works in Cornelius, Oregon, and the San Juan Islands in northwest Washington State, with her husband, two sons, and black Labrador retriever
