Description
Born in a Northern New Mexico one-room adobe without electricity or running water, Charlie Meckel began building his artistic foundations early in life. At the age of 8 he learned linear perspective and massing and proportioning of figures from How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way, by Stan Lee. He left home at the age of 13 and since has roamed the less frequented areas of the western states and Mexico. Meckel explores an eclectic variety of subject which are unified by a deep yearning for knowledge, sensitivity to emotive qualities, and an overarching gestalt of the expansiveness of life. As evidenced by his subject matter he has been attracted to the road less traveled, spending time around train yards, industrial parks, and wild lands. For Charlie, oil paint has been the ultimate medium.
