Description
Charlie Meckel was born in a one-room adobe in Northern New Mexico, without electricity or running water. At age 8, the artist learned the basics from How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way by Stan Lee. At 13, Meckel left home, and has been roaming the roads less traveled since then. He first began taking art courses while in college to become a paramedic. By his early twenties, he had officially committed to becoming a professional artist.
Meckel’s subject matter is eclectic, but unified by a yearning for the wild and unexplored. Through the artist’s work, we see the expansiveness of life, laid out for us in train yards, industrial parks, and open landscapes. Meckel currently lives and works in Silver City, New Mexico.
