A favorite spot for hiking, bird watching and exploring is the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument near Santa Fe. The remarkable cone-shaped rock formations are the result of volcanic eruptions that occurred 6-7 million years ago. The tapering hoodoos with their sculpted boulder caps were the inspiration for this work.
