Description
Mixed media encaustic art made for the Adelita series. Adelita’s were the name given courageous young women soldiers who fought during the Mexican Revolution. At first, these girls followed their husbands and family members to the battlegrounds. They cooked, cleaned and nursed wounds. Soon the men began to die in the war and the women picked up the guns and ammo to continue to fight for the right of peasants to own land. This art work is painted on a 1 1/2 inch deep wood panel.
