Rug 421, 44.75″ X 46.5″, Spider Woman Cross
$1,700.00
Southwestern, hand dyed, handwoven rug. 100% Navajo Churro wool. Weight: 5.25 pounds. Mothproof. In Navajo mythology, Spider Woman (Na’ashjé’íí Asdzáá) is a significant figure, often depicted as a creator, teacher, and protector of the Navajo people. She is revered for introducing weaving to the Navajo and for her role in the creation story. This piece is not a Navajo weaving. It was woven on a Rio Grande Walking Loom, not a traditional Navajo vertical loom. (See photo)
