A Mythical Realism painting inspired by a recent flood in The Cradle of Civilization that brought to light female effigies, and ancient stories on clay tablets, of powerful women. This painting honors Mahsa Amini, aka Jina, who, one hundred thousand years later, was murdered in the same area, by morality police for showing her beautiful hair. She, like so many of us, was claiming her right to own her body, and her beliefs. I painted Jina as a patroness of women, Anahita, a Persian warrior goddess.
