Yazzie (Navajo-Diné) is a highly regarded multimedia artist known for her printmaking, paintings, sculpture and jewelry designs. She has exhibited, lectured and taught throughout the United Sates, Europe, Mexico, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Her work is in important museum collections world wide. Glenn Green Galleries, her international representatives, collaborate in creating these jewelry and fabric designs that are made in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Figures of animals, insects and other beings are meant to protect and give strength to the wearer. The winged female figures, called pollinators, are named for her personal Navajo clans, the salt water and bitter water. They serve as symbols of empowerment and the possibility of creating good things. Yazzie see these as her protectors. In her artwork she follows the Navajo philosophy of seeking beauty, balance and harmony.
