Description
Fiesta Ascending: Albuquerque Gold captures the magic and energy of the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta set against the brilliant autumn colors of New Mexico.
Rendered in Roy Hastick’s signature Vibrant Lyrical Abstract Expressionism, the artwork employs thick, sculpted impasto knife work that builds dense texture, kinetic energy, and rich, glowing color.
Two vibrant hot air balloons—one in striking red-and-white stripes and the other in a jewel-toned mosaic pattern—float effortlessly above a serene Southwestern pueblo village. Golden autumn cottonwoods framing a winding river reflect the brilliant cobalt blue sky, while the majestic Sandia Mountains stretch quietly across the horizon.
This piece balances movement, structure, and intense light, capturing both the architectural warmth of traditional adobe homes and the exhilaration of colorful balloons taking flight into a crisp blue sky.
