La Virgen de Guadalupe

La Virgen de Guadalupe has a long history of intervention in my life and the lives of millions. A truly amazing Divine image from Mexico.
My own story began when I and my friend and her 9 month old baby were plucked from a side of a mountain by the Sheriff’s Posse of Santa Fe after a hillside cave in left us with nowhere to go, especially with a baby, and as the sun set the temperature was dropping below freezing. One of the deputies told me we were lucky as it was The Virgen de Guadalupe’s Feast Day. It was December 12th.
In gratitude I painted an Icon of her and took it to a gallery there in Chimayo, NM. This led to more paintings, more galleries.The Virgin of Guadalupe is the very famous image from Mexico, and worker of millions miracles. She is one of the most popular and powerful of Icons of the Blessed Mother. I have heard many stories of her intervention on behalf of someone in need. She is truly a miraculous image and blesses any home.

In my original painting (Original image is enshrined in the Basilica in Mexico City) of Guadalupe, I have added a little bare foot peeking out from beneath her robe. It symbolizes for me the connection with the Earth. She stands on the dark quarter moon and in front of the sun, one of her symbols is the Rose

Decorative collage using a reproduction from my original Icon. Hand painted, detailed and assembled by the artist. Finished art, can be hung from the decorative hole at top. This is a medium sized Icon and is @9 1/4″x 4 1/2″ and depth is 3/8″.
