Virgen of Guadalupe Triptych 20% Off

The Virgen de Guadalupe has been a great influence on my art. I have been told many stories of her miraculous intervention and protection, including a Vietnam vet who saw her standing over him as he lay in the ruins of the helicopter, the only survivor. My own encounters have not been as dramatic, but certainly profound nonetheless. The most significant story for me is when I and a friend and her baby were freezing on the side of a collapsed mountain trail, a lone fisherman heard our cries for help and returned with the Sheriff’s Posse to rescue us, lowering us down by rope to a waiting boat. This happened on December 12th, La Virgen’s Feast Day, and a deputy, in the boat going back to the far lake shore remarked that because it was her Feast Day, she had intervened and protected us. The image of Our Lady is from my original Icon of her that now hangs in a church in Seattle. In my painting of this very famous image, I have added her bare right foot, slightly peeking out from beneath her robe. I wanted to show that she is connected to the Earth, not just a Heavenly Being existing far away.
