Description
A celebration of high-energy movement, architectural heritage, and the unmistakable texture of the human hand.
Rendered in the signature MINI style of Vibrant Lyrical Abstract Expressionism, this piece transforms a classic Santa Fe architectural icon into a masterclass of tactile depth. The composition centers on an aged, rustic wooden door, heavily layered with chiseled palette-knife strokes of Capri Blue and Transformative Turquoise. The door stands framed by a sun-baked adobe wall of glowing ochre and Cloud Dancer cream, built up with thick, sculptural ink–oil–pastel impasto that masterfully catches the high-desert light.
Balancing the structural geometry of the entry are lyrical, organic elements: a cascading ristra of fiery red chiles and a vibrant cluster of roses cutting across the textured wall. Every ridge, tool mark, and gestural slash remains fully alive on the canvas, honoring a strict “Return of the Hand” philosophy that rejects flat digital perfection in favor of raw, physical friction.
This piece features the artist’s signature, “Roy Hastick,” subtly engraved directly into the thick paint texture in the bottom right corner.
