Description
In this 1:1 sculptural study, I explore the sacred geometry of the Santa Fe threshold. The piece centers on a weathered, deep cobalt-blue door—a symbol of protection and hospitality—set within the organic, hand-modeled curves of a traditional mud-adobe wall.
Utilizing a heavy impasto technique I call “buttered” application, I’ve rendered the red geraniums and structural agave with extreme 3D relief. The paint isn’t just applied; it is sculpted into thick dollops and sharp palette knife ridges that catch the warm, low-angle light of the High Desert. This work is a tactile experience designed to bring the sensory presence of Santa Fe architecture into the modern living space.
