Taos Pueblo Hollyhocks – Original Mixed Media Art

Description

Historic Taos Pueblo is a World Heritage Site that’s 1.5 hour drive from my home. It’s a magical peaceful place and it’s on my “Top 10” List as a must go when visiting New Mexico. “Taos Pueblo Hollyhocks” is a mixed media encaustic art piece. I used colorful pigments melted into hot molten wax, oil sticks, photograph and tissue paper to create this collage. Encaustic wax cools quickly, which allows me to apply layers of texture that gives a 3-dimensional look to this artwork. The painting is on a wood panel that is 1.5 inch wide.
