Description

These obsidian arrowhead earrings are made from one of the oldest tool materials on earth. Volcanic glass, formed in an instant when lava meets cold air, shaped by ancient hands into arrowheads for thousands of years before anyone thought to wear it. The arrowhead form carries that history, direction, focus, the idea of moving through the world with intention. Here each one is wrapped in electroformed copper and hung from a niobium ear wire, grounding and striking in equal measure. For the person who wants their jewelry to carry real weight, not just symbolic weight.

Obsidian is associated with grounding, protection, and clarity. Root chakra. Wear it when you need to feel steady and clear.

Why Obsidian

Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed when lava cools rapidly and solidifies without crystallizing. Its deep black color and glassy surface come from its amorphous structure. Long used across cultures for tools, arrowheads, and mirrors. Chosen for its striking appearance, its raw arrowhead form, and its grounding quality. Root chakra. No mystical claims. Just a genuinely ancient material with a meaning that fits real life.

Obsidian Arrowhead Earrings: Materials & Specifications

  • Stone: Natural obsidian arrowhead, approximately 25 to 38mm (1 to 1.5 inch), deep black. Each arrowhead is unique in shape and size.
  • Metal: Electroformed copper. Antique finish with living patina.
  • Finding: Niobium ear wires (hypoallergenic, ideal for sensitive ears).
  • Dimensions: Approximately 50mm (2 inch) total drop per earring.
  • Weight: Approximately 28g (1 oz) per pair. Lightweight for all-day wear.
  • Origin: Handcrafted in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

How These Handmade Gemstone Earrings Are Made

Each pair of obsidian arrowhead earrings is made by hand in my small Santa Fe studio. I hand-select and match every arrowhead for its form and deep color, then encase each one in copper using traditional electroforming techniques. Copper grows directly around the stone through an electrical process. No mass production, no shortcuts. Every handmade gemstone earring pair from this studio is one of a kind.

A Note on Stone Matching

Because these are natural arrowheads, each pair is matched by hand for size and shape. Slight variation between the two stones is part of what makes them handmade and real.

Care

Remove before swimming, showering, or applying lotions. Store dry. Polish with a soft cloth to maintain shine or let the patina deepen naturally. Obsidian is volcanic glass and relatively durable, but treat the arrowhead edges gently to avoid chipping from hard impacts.

Gift Packaging

Every order arrives gift-ready with natural materials and a handwritten note card. Add your message in the order notes.

  • Processing: Ships within 1 to 2 business days.
  • Shipping: USPS First Class with tracking.
  • Returns: Accepted within 30 days, unworn, in original packaging. Buyer pays return shipping.

Shipping Policy

SHIPPING POLICY

Pieces at Blackbird & Sage Studio are handcrafted in Santa Fe, some are made to order. Below are some of the current processing times before the piece is ready to ship.
  • Ready Made items ship out in 1 - 3 business days - these include most necklaces, beaded bracelets, ready made and ready to ship rings, & key chains.
  • Made to Order items ship in about a week - these are most rings, & some earrings & necklaces.
  • Bracelets and detailed pieces are more labor intensive and require a longer production time - they generally ship out in 7 - 14 days but check the listing for specific processing and shipping dates.
  • Processing times are generally listed in each item description.
All orders will be shipped with an accompanying tracking number.   DOMESTIC (US) ORDERS
  • Free Shipping - Orders over $75 are sent USPS First Class Ground Advantage at no charge.
  • Shipping - Orders under $75 are charged by weight. Methods and rates vary and chosen by the customer at checkout.
  • Upgraded Shipping - Available at checkout. Rates are automatically calculated by the shipping carrier so you are never overcharged for shipping.
ORDERS & ADDRESSES All orders are shipped to the address that you provide. Please verify your address carefully during checkout. For those instances where a purchase has been made but the shipping address is incorrect, please send a message to hello@blackbirdsagestudio.com ASAP. For your protection, your order will be cancelled and refunded so that you can reorder with the correct address.

Refund Policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. To start a return, you can contact us at hello@blackbirdsagestudio.com. Please note that returns will need to be sent to the following address: 245 Casados St, Apt A, Santa Fe, NM, 87501. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Return shipping labels incur a flat rate of $5. You can always contact us for any return question at hello@blackbirdsagestudio.com.

Damages and issues Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. Exceptions / non-returnable items Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on custom made, custom commission, sale items or gift cards. Made-to-order items from standard listings are eligible for return. Custom commissions, specific stone requests, and special orders are non-returnable. Exchanges The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. If items from a promotional bundle are returned, the order may be recalculated without the promotional discount.   European Union 14 day cooling off period Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Refunds We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
