Our Lady of Chestochowa, (Czestochowa) is one of the most venerated of Catholic images in the world. “Saint Luke the Evangelist, according to tradition, is believed to be the original artist of this painting in which Mary is depicted holding the Christ Child. This sacred picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary, enshrined and venerated at the renowned Marian Shrine in Poland, was first brought from Jerusalem through Constantinople”(polishamericancenter.org) This is my image of this famous Icon and has significant differences from the original. My main objective was to present Our Lady, somewhat in the older tradition, yet modern. The Eye that hovers above Her represents the Divine, without whom none of these images or stories would even exist. She is the Holy Mother, through Divine Intervention. A Devotional Icon for your home.
