Description

These black tourmaline rod hoop earrings are built around a stone that has been used as a protective talisman for centuries. A row of small raw black tourmaline rods lines the inside of a sterling silver hoop, each one a natural column of deep matte black crystal, striated and distinct. Black tourmaline has long been placed at thresholds and carried on the body as a shield. This is a piece for the person who takes their grounding seriously, and wants something that looks as considered as it feels.

Black tourmaline is associated with grounding, protection, and energetic shielding. Root chakra. Wear it when you need to feel steady and clear.

Why Black Tourmaline

Black tourmaline is a boron silicate mineral in the tourmaline group, formed in granite pegmatites and metamorphic rocks. Its deep black color comes from high iron content. The characteristic striated rod form is a natural result of its trigonal crystal structure. Long associated with protection and grounding across cultures. Chosen for its striking rod form, its deep matte black color, and its grounding quality. Root chakra. No mystical claims. Just a genuinely distinctive stone with a meaning that fits real life.

Black Tourmaline Rod Hoop Earrings: Materials & Specifications

  • Stone: Row of natural raw black tourmaline rods, deep black with natural striations. Each rod is unique in size and form; no two pairs are identical.
  • Metal: Sterling silver hoop, approximately 50mm (2 inch) diameter. Bright finish.
  • Finding: Sterling silver ear wires.
  • Dimensions: Approximately 50mm (2 inch) hoop diameter; approximately 63mm (2.5 inch) total drop per earring.
  • Weight: Lightweight for all-day wear.
  • Origin: Handcrafted in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

How These Handmade Gemstone Earrings Are Made

Each pair of black tourmaline rod hoop earrings is made to order in my small Santa Fe studio. I hand-select and arrange every tourmaline rod for its form and depth of color, setting each row along a sterling silver hoop formed and finished by hand. No mass production, no shortcuts. Every handmade gemstone earring pair from this studio is one of a kind.

A Note on Stone Variation

Because these are natural raw rods, the arrangement and size of each row varies slightly between pairs. That variation is part of what makes them handmade and real.

Care

Remove before swimming, showering, or applying lotions. Store dry. Polish sterling silver gently with a soft cloth to maintain brightness, or allow a subtle patina to develop naturally. Black tourmaline is relatively durable but treat the rod ends gently to avoid chipping from hard impacts.

Every order arrives gift-ready with natural materials and a handwritten note card. Add your message in the order notes.

Shipping Policy

SHIPPING POLICY

Pieces at Blackbird & Sage Studio are handcrafted in Santa Fe, some are made to order. Below are some of the current processing times before the piece is ready to ship.
  • Ready Made items ship out in 1 - 3 business days - these include most necklaces, beaded bracelets, ready made and ready to ship rings, & key chains.
  • Made to Order items ship in about a week - these are most rings, & some earrings & necklaces.
  • Bracelets and detailed pieces are more labor intensive and require a longer production time - they generally ship out in 7 - 14 days but check the listing for specific processing and shipping dates.
  • Processing times are generally listed in each item description.
All orders will be shipped with an accompanying tracking number.   DOMESTIC (US) ORDERS
  • Free Shipping - Orders over $75 are sent USPS First Class Ground Advantage at no charge.
  • Shipping - Orders under $75 are charged by weight. Methods and rates vary and chosen by the customer at checkout.
  • Upgraded Shipping - Available at checkout. Rates are automatically calculated by the shipping carrier so you are never overcharged for shipping.
ORDERS & ADDRESSES All orders are shipped to the address that you provide. Please verify your address carefully during checkout. For those instances where a purchase has been made but the shipping address is incorrect, please send a message to hello@blackbirdsagestudio.com ASAP. For your protection, your order will be cancelled and refunded so that you can reorder with the correct address.

Refund Policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. To start a return, you can contact us at hello@blackbirdsagestudio.com. Please note that returns will need to be sent to the following address: 245 Casados St, Apt A, Santa Fe, NM, 87501. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Return shipping labels incur a flat rate of $5. You can always contact us for any return question at hello@blackbirdsagestudio.com.

Damages and issues Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. Exceptions / non-returnable items Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on custom made, custom commission, sale items or gift cards. Made-to-order items from standard listings are eligible for return. Custom commissions, specific stone requests, and special orders are non-returnable. Exchanges The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. If items from a promotional bundle are returned, the order may be recalculated without the promotional discount.   European Union 14 day cooling off period Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Refunds We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
