Sage at Abiquiu

Bring the sweeping, sacred landscape of Northern New Mexico into your home with this original minimalist watercolor painting of Cerro Pedernal. Celebrated by legendary artists like Georgia O’Keeffe for well over a century, the timeless mesas, towering buttes, and layered colors of the Abiquiu region are captured here with a fresh, spontaneous energy.

This piece belongs to a series focused on letting go and exploring form through a minimalist lens. Painted on high-texture, rough watercolor paper, the artwork utilizes swift, deliberate strokes from a traditional Japanese writing brush. This technique allows the raw beauty of the pigment and the natural grain of the paper to breathe, creating a captivating balance of immense sky and grounded earth.
